ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Lake Country. I went to Oyama Elementary (the most beautiful school grounds anywhere) and graduated from George Elliott Secondary. I grew up working in my family's Readi-Mix concrete company, where I learned early what hard work, fiscal discipline, and respect actually look like day to day.
After college in Vancouver, I came home almost 20 years ago to build a life here with my wife and raise our three kids. Together we started our own business 17 years ago, which we still run today. Running it has meant reading and negotiating complex budgets and contracts, developing procedures that actually work, and leading a team with respect and autonomy rather than micromanagement. That's the same experience I want to bring to council.
WHY I’M RUNNING
I've watched our population boom while our roads have crumbled. Lake Country is not just a bedroom community for Kelowna, and it's not a stretch of highway between Kelowna and Vernon, it's a unique township with its own character, economy, and future. I believe sustainable, council-guided development can protect what makes this community special, for the next generation as much as this one.
Roughly 90% of our city budget comes from residential property taxes. I want city hall to treat that money with the same discipline any of us apply to our own household or business budget, not treat homeowners as a blank cheque for inefficient spending.
MY PRIORITIES
Fiscal Accountability
Work with staff to develop procurement policies that reduce city hall costs
Push for more efficient work practices across city operations
Curb the pattern of constant annual tax increases
Protecting What Makes Lake Country Unique
Guide attainable housing growth in the right areas, while protecting the orchard, vineyard, and farm land that gives this town its character
Work with developers and Main Street property owners to create real, usable community gathering spaces
Work across levels of government to keep the canal between Wood and Kal Lake passable by boat, and repair the Oyama boat launch
Support community traditions, like issuing parade permits for the annual GESS Grad Promenade
Support local businesses and attract new ones, to help reduce the tax burden on property owners
Fix our roads, a basic promise that's overdue
Position Lake Country as a destination in its own right, not a pass-through between Kelowna and Vernon
Growing Our Economy, Not Just Our Population
The Lake Country I See
We're less than 10 minutes from an international airport, home to world-class wineries, lakes, and outdoor recreation, all within our own borders. We don't need to settle for being overlooked. We need a council willing to fight for this district and govern it like the driving force in the regional economy that it already is.
